What is the concept behind HALFEST?

Halal Fiesta Malaysia or HALFEST is an integrated trade and consumer expo for halal products and services. HALFEST serves as a platform for halal entrepreneurs specifically from the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) industry to promote their halal products and services whilst strengthening their trade relations within the retail industry in Malaysia. HALFEST is designed to be a fun filled fiesta for the whole family, with lots of activities for all including children, exciting competitions, product launches and demonstrations, free consultations and fabulous prize giveaways.

When and where is HALFEST happening?

HALFEST is scheduled to take place from 30 August to 4 September 2016 at the MINES Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC), Kuala Lumpur.

What time will HALFEST be open to the public?

HALFEST is open to the public from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm.

What is the eligibility criterion to visit HALFEST?

HALFEST welcomes everyone to the expo.

Are children allowed at HALFEST?

Absolutely, children of all ages are allowed at HALFEST. There will be many interesting and exciting activities planned to keep the little ones entertained.

Is there a registration or entry fee for HALFEST?

No, entry is free for all.

What is the objective of HALFEST?

To increase the demand for halal certified products and services by creating more awareness and educating the public of the importance of choosing products and services with the halal logo and embracing the halal lifestyle.

To increase the awareness amongst local manufacturers and producers of the importance of halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the State Department of Islamic Religion (JAIN) to strengthen the positioning and marketing of their halal products and services amongst Muslim consumers.

To provide a branding and promotion platform for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to position and promote their halal products and services around Malaysia; and to mentor the SMEs to expand to international markets.

How many companies are expected to participate in HALFEST?

More than 500 companies are expected to participate in HALFEST with around 600 allocated exhibition space.

Is HALFEST exclusive to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)?

No, HALFEST is open to all companies-small, medium and large enterprises as well as multinationals with halal certified products and services from JAKIM and JAIN.

What are the sectors featured at HALFEST?

The sectors featured at HALFEST include food and beverages (F&B), cosmetics and personal care, herbal products and ingredients, hotels, restaurants, bakeries, franchises, Islamic banking and investment, logistics, halal product development agencies, Islamic publication, Islamic art and craft, modest fashion and government agencies.

What kind of halal products and services are exhibited at HALFEST?

  • Halal Consumables
    Halal certified processed and ready-to-eat products, canned food, dairy products, grocery products, seafood, meat and poultry, confectionery, biscuits, pastries, snacks and candies, grains and nuts, preserved fruits and vegetable products, health supplements, food chemicals and additives, emulsifiers and ingredients, pharmaceuticals and herbal products.
  • Non-Food Products and Services
    Perfumery, toiletries, cosmetics, personal and body care products.
  • Services Showcased
    Halal certified premises-abattoirs, hotels, restaurants and catering services. Islamic banking, investment and Takaful-Islamic financial institutions and consultants, Islamic banking, Islamic unit trust, Islamic capital markets, Takaful (insurance) and hibah (wills). Government agencies and associations-ministries, agencies, Islamic development bodies, halal certification bodies, food research development centres, trade development agencies and halal parks.

What number of visitors is expected at HALFEST?

Around 80,000 visitors are expected at HALFEST based on our Advertisement and Promotion (A&P) campaign worth RM1.95 million around Malaysia.

Is HALFEST a strategic collaboration between government agencies and private sector organisations?

Yes, HALFEST is hosted and organised by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW), jointly-organised by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), with the strategic collaboration of the Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMM) and Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM), supported by Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) and co-organised and managed by Shapers Malaysia Sdn Bhd

What is the eligibility criterion to participate in HALFEST?

HALFEST is open to all companies from Malaysia with halal certification from JAKIM and JAIN. International companies with halal certification from their country of origin are also welcomed to join HALFEST.
